Dr Monique Phipps is an experienced clinical psychologist with extensive skills in the assessment and treatment of complex mental health issues, trauma and substance abuse. Since obtaining her Master of Clinical Psychology in 2000, she has worked in public, private and NGO settings in the fields of community and acute mental health, substance abuse, homelessness, veterans and adolescent and family services and has provided expert consultation and reports in all of these settings. Her work included 12 years at St Vincent’s Mental Health Service in Sydney. While training to become a clinical psychologist Monique spent many years working with children with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorder, including teaching at a school for children with autism.

Monique has a strong understanding of the impact of childhood events including divorce, attachment issues, parenting styles and trauma on children, adolescents, and adults. She is trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities including CBT, EMDR, Schema therapy and sensorimotor psychotherapy and adopts a holistic, trauma-informed approach to assessment and treatment.

Monique holds a PhD in Public Health from the University of Tasmania, a Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of NSW, a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the University of New South Wales and a Post Graduate Diploma of Nutritional Medicine for Mental Health. She is a founding member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association and a Board Approved supervisor, providing supervision to clinical psychologists, general psychologists and psychology students. She is also a full member of the EMDR Association of Australia and a member of the Association for Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC).

Monique has several publications in academic journals and conference presentations, including the Law Society of NSW Specialist Accreditation Conference, Family Law stream. She has trained clinicians in hospital and private practice settings in trauma-informed care and has contributed to the development of mental health nursing courses for the University of Central Queensland.
